So, I’ve made it through another week of lockdown. To be fair, I don’t think I’ve found it as hard as I did last week. I always find it difficult to adjust to change, and this change is a really big one. This week I feel as though I have learnt different ways to pass the days, keep time ticking through and entertain myself getting on with things I normally would put off.
I know I said this last week, but this week I have continued to work out every weekday morning. I am finding it more of a struggle to motivate myself to do this as the days go on. I get bored of doing the same exercise routine on the daily and need to find things that are more exciting and different to keep me committed. I haven’t been getting bored of the weights part of my routine, as I have enough ideas about mixing up different exercises to work my muscles, but I do struggle in finding HIT workouts and cardio ideas that keep me motivated and make me really push myself. If anyone has any that they’re loving – please let me know!
Every week so far (yes there has only been 2 but I will continue to do this) I have been making tea for my family. As both my parents are still working as normal I guess this is a bit of a helping hand for them, but also is something I am missing about living in Leeds. I really enjoyed cooking for Jacob and myself at Uni and have found some favourites that I am sure I will make for years to come. Cooking is a life skill everyone needs, and I know a lot of people my age are using this time to improve their cooking and baking skills. If you haven’t had the opportunity to do this at uni, now is a great time to practice.
We all know that Zoom is now the app of the decade. I have had so much fun on Zoom this week! I’ve had a few chats with both my rebel friends and my girls from home. It’s so nice to catch up and be able to see everyone on the screen and helps me still feel connected to everyone even though we can’t hang out in person. On Friday me and the girls decided to get ready together on Zoom as if we were going out but instead we stayed in with a drink and did a virtual quiz which I absolutely loved. I cannot wait to see them all and go out but for now we will carry on doing a virtual quiz every Friday night.
My university has still kept us busy as we continue with lectures that are now virtual. This was my last week of lectures before the Easter break though. I have a lot to be getting on with, a blessing and a curse all in one. I feel like I want to have it done as soon as I can but without rushing so when lockdown is lifted, whenever this may be, I won’t feel like I have wasted my time in quarantine and know that I will have been productive with my time whilst winding down and taking this time to relax too.
I know I also mentioned last week that I would be starting to watch ‘Friends’ on Netflix from the beginning. I can proudly say I am now on series 2 and nearing the end of this series. Did you know there is 10 series of friends with over 20 episodes in each? I think I’ve done pretty good going in a week, and I’ve got a long way to go – they’re definitely keeping me entertained and occupied though, I love them!
I hope that everyone is keeping safe and staying indoors. It is a pretty terrifying time for everyone across the world, but we can get through this together.
Keep smiling and have a great day! Liv xxx
