Who knew, February is the new January? I am a bit late to the party but I thought I would do a quick sum up of my 2019 and look ahead at what is to come in my 2020.

For my 20th Birthday in November, my best friend Keira gave me a book that she calls her ‘guide to life’. It’s called ‘Good Vibes, Good Life’ by Vex King. She definitely knows me too well and this was perfect for the sort of mind set I was in before the new year and the new decade. After reading through it, I have reflected on points of my 2019 and the changes I can make in 2020. (I also 100% recommend this book, it’s the perfect bible to living life for yourself and helps you through all sorts of life scenarios, a huge help to me)!

In 2019 I finished my first year of uni, spent a summer at home and started my second year at uni. My second semester of my first year was definitely the most challenging so far. I found myself cooped up in my flat a lot of the time, a lack of motivation to do uni work and wasn’t getting many hours in my part time job so I seemed to be staring at the same four walls day in and day out. Needless to say I am missing those chill days right now because of how busy I am but I have learnt that I am best when I am busy. Although after reading the book, I am definitely a lot better when spending more time in my own company. I am also so much better at doing uni work outside of my room, so first semester of second year, I have basically spent every free day in the library. I’ve socialised so much more with friends simply because I came to the library every day and therefore I appreciate my chill time when I have it instead of feeling trapped.

I also got a new job in 2019 which I started at the beginning of the summer holidays and continue to work there now nearly a year later, and I absolutely love it. Working at Lindt has literally given me the most amazing experience so far, I have met some lifelong friends, and it doesn’t even feel like work when I’m there because I love chocolate that much! Giving up desserts for lent this year is going to be difficult on a whole new level this year and I’m not sure I am ready for it. The difference in me going from a zero-hour contract to 8 hours is surprising, but it’s given me another purpose to be the best version of myself every day that I’m at work, and I love it.

Looking forward into 2020, it is going to be the most special year. We have already celebrated my Dad’s big birthday (50, shhh), and have my brother Cameron’s 18th, my 21st and Mum’s 50th to look forward to this year. What a year for the Prices! To celebrate, we have booked two weeks travelling around Thailand in the summer. (You’ve got a good blog post to look forward to there). We have also booked a party in the middle of our birthdays to celebrate as a family with all our loved ones.

I started my driving lessons right at the back end of 2019, but at the weekend, I passed my driving theory and booked my practical test! That means that this year will be the year I begin to drive, and buy my own car which is so exciting! I feel like the whole driving experience is such a milestone in a person’s life so I can’t wait to complete my test and get out on my own in my own car.

I am currently applying for a placement for the sandwich year of my course at uni. This year is going to be a big step for me, working in industry for a full year, starting hopefully this summer. I’m really looking forward to getting out there and getting stuck in with PR in industry, having a bit more responsibility and learning even more on the job rather than just in a classroom environment. The independence at uni is definitely a different type of independence to driving and working full time, but I think the past two years have been building me up to this point and I can’t wait to actually get on with it.

Now, I am just working in my second semester of second year, towards all of my assignments, whilst enjoying this awful storm Ciara that I can see out of my window. In reflection, especially after reading the book, I am so motivated to work as hard as I can this year, with so many rewards to achieve and opportunities to be had. With so much to look forward to and so many new experiences, I am sure that this year will be the best year yet.

Thanks for reading! Keep smiling and have a great day! Liv xxx
