I am so excited to do this post about my new winter purchases! I have always loved buying new clothes. Every 6 months when I was younger, me and my Nan used to do a big seasonal shop for me to get everything I needed to survive that half of the year. More recently it has turned into a trip me, my Mum and Grandma went on. This year, my life has obviously had a big change now that I’m living in Leeds for University.
I have recently added 5 new items to my Autumn/Winter wardrobe that I am in love with. My Mum came on a visit to see me recently, and I managed to pick up some new jeans and a new coat. Me and my boyfriend Jacob went shopping too and he bought me a new hat! I went on a quick browse around the shops with Maisie, my friend from home who also happened to move to Leeds for uni too, and she persuaded me to buy a new top for more dressy occasions. Another item I picked up was a pinafore dress when with my family at the beginning of Autumn.
Here are the 5 items:
I have been in need of a new pair of black jeans for ages. My old pair were firstly low waisted and secondly they had faded in colour loads, they were ripped on one of the belt hoops, and quite frankly, they were just getting way too old. I had a pair of light blue and a pair of dark blue Joni jeans from Topshop previously and loved them; they complimented my figure well, and I also felt more confident when wearing cropped tops as there wasn’t huge amounts of my stomach on show. I am so excited to have a black pair in my wardrobe; I constantly wear them! At Uni, I wear them, wash them in an evening when I’m in trackies or my PJs and then dry them overnight ready for the next day again! I have been wearing these for all occasions; to uni with a jumper and also for more dressy occasions like fancy meals out with a nice top and even nights out. I love folding them up at the bottom with trainers, and I also love the way they look rolled down as normal with a pair of chunky heels.
As a new employee at Hollister since I started University, I have been eyeing up this coat for a couple of months whilst I’ve been working. Our discount is insane, it was so hard to resist buying this beauty (well, getting my Mum to). I haven’t had a new winter coat for a couple of years now, and in the previous years, for however long I can remember, I have always had a black winter coat. So this time I thought I would change it up a bit which is why I went for burgundy this year. The best thing about this coat is the fur inside. It’s so soft and keeps me so warm, even maybe too warm whilst I’m walking to uni. I haven’t really been layering as much with this coat as I have done in the past, maybe that’s because it hasn’t hit the proper cold wintery weather yet, I don’t know, we will soon find out in the next couple of months. But all I know is that I love this coat!

There isn’t really much to say other than that I am in love with this hat! I lost my hat from last year; I couldn’t find it when I was packing for Uni. It was a light grey with two bobbles. I never really wore hats before last year, but my Mum always tells me I suit hats and last year was the year I discovered this myself. Me and Jacob walked into Leeds centre to grab a coffee and have a wander round the shops and as soon as I saw this hat I just knew it had to be mine for this year! I don’t know what it is, but I am loving the colour blue that the bobble is. It’s literally my favourite colour. Yes, I know the bobble is massive too, but you can’t really tell that too much once it’s on. I love that it’s a darker grey too; I have a scarf in the same colour grey that I got for Christmas from Jacob’s family last year and I knew it would go perfectly. Jacob was kind enough to get me this hat (I think it’s just cos he likes me in winter hats).
This was an accidental but SO on purpose purchase. I was having a bit of a try on, not intending to buy anything, but I just couldn’t leave it in the shop, especially with now having a student card to get student discount. I think I actually build relationships with clothes I try on and love in shops; it’s like leaving your child in the shop. Well…slightly extreme but nevertheless, I love this top. It goes perfectly with my black joni jeans, or with a leather skirt or other coloured high wasted skirt (this top is a lot shorter than a normal crop top). I loved wearing it for a night out I had with my flat mates at Uni, and the glitter is exactly what I want to be wearing for the Christmas season, so I can’t wait for the season to come closer. The only thing I would say if you were to get this would be to embrace the glitter…it goes everywhere!
I haven’t purchased anything like this before. I had a denim one that I got when it was coming into Spring and that’s the first time I’ve ever worn a pinafore dress, but I certainly got my use out of it. That’s why as soon as I saw this, I needed it for my winter wardrobe. The colour is definitely my favourite for this season, it looks so nice with a black pair of tights and boots, and I have worn it with a black long sleeve top or jumper, though I am quite liking just wearing a white t-shirt underneath at the moment to brighten it up slightly. It’s so comfortable and I really like that I can wear this for all occasions, whether it be going to Uni, work, a date day, or even an evening in the upcoming winter. It might even make it as my Christmas day outfit, though it’s too soon to make any promises!
Those were my five new favourite additions to my winter wardrobe so far this year. I am sure there will be more (though I can’t really afford with a student’s budget like mine) and I do actually have my birthday and Christmas to look forward to too.
Thanks for reading! Keep smiling and have a great day! Liv xxx
